Wild Marsh Rose

This wild flowering shrub is a Rosa palustris, or wild marsh rose.  It's  growing in front of Beacon Studios, next to Pico Brook near Ned's Point in Mattapoisett.

The shrub is about 6 feet high with radiant pink blooms that are about 7 inches across.  It blooms late July through August.

This is a wild plant. The USDA say the plants are easily propagated. I’ve collected seeds and tried to propagate new plants without success. So I must be doing something wrong. Maybe someone out there knows the secret to spreading this beautiful flowering plant. Let me know!
