Don Ross in front of the old green cottage in July, 1958.
Since the 1940s many generations of Rosses and Spears have enjoyed summers here at Pico Beach, Mattapoisett. This photo was taken by my grand aunt Doris Spear. It shows the cottage as it was shortly after hurricane Carol. That storm moved the cottage across the road and crashed into the Flaherty’s place. My grand mother, Lillian Spear hired George Church to move it back and placed it onto new cinder blocks instead of the old pine pilings. Then my dad, Calvin Ross and his best high school friend, and my Uncle, Warren Spear rebuilt the place.
