Flowers in the Dark
Our flower gardens by the Pico Beach salt marsh explode with color beginning in April. We have many of the classics, tulips, lilies, alliums, narcissus and more. Their vibrance really come out when in contrast with the dark.
The timing for our bulbs emerging in our gardens along the water in Mattapoisett is about two weeks later than a few miles inland up in Rochester and three weeks later than in Boston. It’s all about our microclimate. We have the tempering influence of the waters of Buzzards Bay, Vineyard and Nantucket Sound around Cape Cod. We have mild winters, a late spring, and beautiful summers that extend well into early November.
